Bike Renovation Project

The Claud Butler racing bike was bought as a mini project whilst in lock-down. The bike had been used regularly, but had been stored in a garage in recent years so was in quite good condition but needed cleaning and some replacement parts.

Once cleaned, we stripped the old bar tape off and decided on what new parts were needed. The saddle and both the gear and brake levers desperately needed upgrading. We then also chose to change the pedals to Shimano clip less pedals.

We fitted new STI brake levers and fine tuned the gears and brakes, finishing off with new white bar tape. The Shimano pedals were fitted along with a white and black Selle Italia saddle, to complete the project.

Now that we have finished work on the bike it has given it a much needed update. With the aluminium frame, it is a comfortable ride and is reasonably responsive, although it does weigh 11kg so takes some extra effort when tackling steeper climbs!
